About CTC Projects

Meet Tom Fontaine

Thomas (Tom) Fontaine was born and raised in Greater Moncton, New Brunswick.

After obtaining a Bachelor of Science in Civil Engineering from the University of New Brunswick, his first post-UNB job was in Baffin Island during the summer of 2008 as an environmental consultant, which included daily helicopter flights to analyze soil core samples for a proposed northern rail project.

He then moved to Vancouver with his partner to pursue complex building projects - and mountains - while gaining valuable experience in the dynamic west-coast development industry. After relocating to Halifax with his wife and kids in 2018, Tom continued to demonstrate project leadership in both the private and public sector.

Experience background includes an on-site Construction Manager for a K-12 school in BC, the Senior Project Manager leading design and construction for a high profile law firm fit-up in downtown Halifax, the lead Project Manager for a $100M public school - the largest public school in Nova Scotia history - and a government manager leading a team of professional engineers and architects.

When Tom isn’t hyper-focused on the built environment and how it can be more efficient, he enjoys spending time with his wife and two children, doing puzzles, playing games, drums, and learning new things. A nature walk or trip to the beach are two of his favourite things. He also is an avid sports person, cycling and running in half-marathons, along with softball, hockey, and snowboarding.

The time is right to create a company in Halifax to inform and educate design and construction personnel on best practices, while also advising Owners on specific project issues to be solved.

Tom’s mission with CTC Projects is to merge Maritime friendliness with detailed planning and risk mitigation practices to minimize project claims.
